The IUP music department offers degrees in Music, Music Education, and Music Performance. We also offer a music minor to students who are interested in further study and performance. All ensembles at IUP are open to non-music majors. If you are interested in auditioning or participating in large ensembles, please contact Dr. Rosemary Engelstad at [email protected].
All interested students are welcome to set up a free lesson with Dr. Engelstad and "shadow" a music major for a day! Email Dr. Engelstad if you are interested.
Who is in the clarinet studio?
The members of the clarinet studio are music education majors (BSEd), music performance majors (BFA), music minors, and students of other majors who would like to hone their clarinet and musicianship skills.
How much clarinet time will I have each week?
Music Majors have 2.5 hours of studio class each week, where we meet to rehearse as a large ensemble, perform for one another, have reed class, discuss interesting articles and books we've read, present findings, and do other clarinet-centric activities. As a music major, you will have a 30 minute lesson each week with Dr. Engelstad. If you are a music performance major, your lesson is one hour each week.
